Jesus v. Ghandi – Incompatible, Incomparable, Irreconcilable

Modern Christians have confused the mantras of Mahatma Gandhi with the doctrines of Jesus Christ. They have falsely equated being “squishy” and “wimpy” with being “holy.” They have made passivity (“…and He answered him [Pilate] not a word”) the rule, and failed to reconcile such a rare moment in His life (when, ironically, the man called “The Living Word”…didn’t speak), with His brazen and angry public rebuke of “O Ye Hypocrites!”

We have misapplied “turn the other cheek” and, by doing so, inadvertently turned our cheeks away from the example given when He fired back at the Pharisee “you go tell that fox [a non-flattering slang leveled against Herod] that I have no intention of obeying his pretentious threats.”

We’ve failed to appreciate the difference between Christ coddling little children in His lap, and His tearing about the greed-filled temple with a hand-made whip (see John 2:15). [A hand-made whip proves His attack was pre-meditated and executed with calculated intent].

Grab a couple of trite cliche’s from the biblical story, and toss them into the mix with some famous quotes of Ghandi, and you may mistake such as evidence that there exists some similarity between these two figures of history, but that’s where the illusion ends. Upon close examination, the ideologies of Jesus and Ghandi remain incompatible, incomparable and irreconcilable.

Based upon the indisputable biblical narrative – our so-called “New Testament behavioral codes,” so often purported as “holy” in modern pulpits – weren’t even reasonable and practical enough for Christ to obey! Doesn’t that say something about our weird attempts to re-define biblical “Love”? The modern church is nothing short of sick. We’re in need of physician. America, in particular, (and every other nation on this earth – for that matter), doesn’t need anymore “born-again” versions of Mahatma Gandhi! We’ve had millions of those in our pulpits two centuries from the French Enlightenment. If America is to turn back to God! America needs a “born-again” version of General Stormin Norman Schwarzkopf in her pulpits. And of equal importance – America needs that same breed of leader in her Government – once again!

After all, Jesus’ command to “turn the other cheek” was never intended to be His “advice to the fallen world for fighting crime.” Jesus told the world how to fight unrepentant crime in His parable of the good king. In short: “Throw them in prison, and throw away the key!” Now THAT is a Jesus Christ the governments of this world can believe-in! THAT is a Jesus Christ that both knew and taught the difference between biblical reconciliation and biblical retribution! THAT is the kind of TRUE MESSIAH upon whose shoulders all worldly governments will inevitably rest!

Lift up Your Heads O Ye Gates! And be Lifted up Ye Everlasting Doors! For The King of Glory Shall Come-in!

If we are really His ambassadors, then let us prepare this world for His return with a proper representation of who He REALLY is! The One who holds the fearsome keys of death, hell, and the grave! That self-same Lord God – loving as He truly is – that upon their deaths, during the last few hours of this very day in which you now read… sent ten-thousand souls to Hell. If for no other reason than that (that He was and is unafraid to condemn the wicked) they chose to refrain from calling Him “King of Cowards and Lord of the Lackadaisical” at Golgotha.

For this is the Gospel of Jesus Christ: Grace to the humble…pain to the proud…resurrection to the innocent soul…and Barabbas to the crowd!
