It Won’t Work Without This!
by Rev. Tim Ginter
That our nation is politically polarized is no secret to anyone who is even remotely in touch with our society. This polarization has been credited to the philosophical differences between the liberals and the conservatives, or to the opposing ideas of government found in the Republican and Democratic platforms. I believe it goes deeper than this. I submit that one of the contributing elements in the philosophical war we see raging in America today is the battle of secular humanism/atheism versus Judeo/Christian principles in public policy. As Rabbi Daniel Lapin said, “this is America’s real war.” The choice between these two is one which must be made and indeed we are in the process of making as I write these words. One choice leads to living in the freedoms established and found only in a democratic republic and the other to atheism, socialism and the end of American government and way of life.
In reference to this choice John Adams, second president of the United States declared: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate (for) the government of any other .” Charles Carroll, signer of the Declaration said: “Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free government.”
Even Alexis de Tocqueville, the famous French statesman, historian and social philosopher who toured America in 1831 for the purpose of observing the American people and way of life stated: “Christianity is the companion of liberty, in all its conflicts – the cradle of its infancy and the divine source of its claims” In other words, he and our forefathers recognized something then that many Americans don’t get today: The government of the United States of America will simply not work without Judeo/Christian principles in place in our society. (And this includes Capitol Hill!) Oh, our Republic may go on for a while after the foundation of these principles has been removed, giving the appearance that all is well and will be forever. But it is only an illusion, and can be likened to the moment prior to the collapse of a skyscraper whose foundation has been purposely imploded and all of its massive weight comes crashing down, never to be rebuilt again.
Let us bravely admit that much damage has been done to this foundation over the last four decades. If we are to see our Republic restored and preserved we must act quickly and decisively. The repairs necessary will be painful and protracted and the effort is going to require tenacity and sacrifice. In fact the repairs may seem initially to cause more damage than the original problem, but we must not let this dissuade us in our task. We must determine we are going to go the full distance. We must use our votes, energy and finances to regain control of our government on all levels. We must then set free the vital segments of American society to function as they were designed to. We must also reintroduce God and Judeo/Christian principles back into the public square. Then they…the American people… will be free.
Finally, we must never underestimate the power of prayer. If we are going to see the revival of America, we must humble ourselves and implore the Almighty to forgive us for being asleep at the wheel while the enemies of
our nation worked diligently over the years to get into positions of power. We must ask God to help us. America, there is hope, and our hope has a sure foundation. The Almighty, has promised that if “we call upon Him. He will answer us and show us great and mighty things.”
