A Palestinian in the White House
By Matthew Ung
The day before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s invitation to the White House for peace talks, several media outlets report that on May 19, “Obama tells Israel” to return to its pre-1967 borders before the Arab-Israeli war. Besides making it sound like Obama owns 51% stake in Israel Inc., it’s another way of saying, “Go back to the indefensible position you had during Auschwitz. It’ll keep the peace. Yeah. Road Map to Peace.”
Paradoxically, Obama is actually racing the United Nations to support Palestine’s “future state,” since his teleprompter somehow told him to warn against a U.N. resolution that supported Palestine’s demands for the West Bank, after which Obama… made a resolution supporting Palestine’s demand for the West Bank, and added the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem to be extra generous with another country’s sovereign land. What a guy. I wonder if he’s also giving away the west bank of Roatan, Honduras… I’ve always wanted a summer home on that paradise island.
Obama calls out Israel for its “permanent occupation” of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem. Well this opens up a Pandora’s box, doesn’t it? Let’s re-instate the American Confederacy, apologizing for our “permanent occupation.” Let’s give some islands back to the Japanese, and we’ll even ask Russia if they want Alaska back–if they don’t want to settle in gold payments from the Gold Rush.
Next he speaks of Palestine and “their future state.” Another Pandora’s box!
Hey, I’ve always wanted my own island-nation… Mr. President, may I have Hawaii for my “future state?” I promise to stop shooting rockets at your civilians if you let me…
Or, Hey! I have a “Road Map to Peace,” and it involves me owning the West USA like my Native American ancestors did…
Or, Heyyy!!! Since Obama’s dad was a British subject, perhaps he would approve we go back to 1776 borders and retain only the 13 colonies, since, you know, we’re going by pre-war scenarios here… Obama’s on track to give Texas to Mexico at this rate.
Wow, following liberal logic makes me dizzy…
You know… Typically when the chief enemy of your most faithful ally has an opposite proposal than your ally, you stomp it into the ground. But not Obama, who I will henceforth call “King Obama” for his passion to re-draw the borders of “Palestine.” Divine Law in the Old Testament tells us that God instituted national borders and that God Himself established the boundaries of Israel, all other nations being created by acts of man. With war around Israel being the norm since Ishmael, King Obama enters with the wisdom that if our ally gives their enemy land, there will be peace. To do this, however, Israel must agree to break the U.S. foreign policy agreement instituted by President Bush and overwhelming supported by Congress in 2004, which recognized Israel’s current borders, also with the understanding that it would bring peace.
By telling Israel’s leader that any further peace talks can only proceed with the understanding that Israel will give up its land to a people group harboring terrorists, I believe May 19, 2011 is the date that King Obama has broken a treaty without notice and formally betrayed our fellow Republic, the State of Israel.
It is true that an area was named Palestine by the Romans, but there has never been a nation called Palestine, and there is no Palestinian language. Before 1948 these people were Egyptians, Syrians, Jordanians, Iraqis, and citizens of other Arab nations who had moved to the region. They were displaced by the war of 1948, but Israel is not occupying their territory.
Can someone please get me a board upon which I may smash my head against? Give me a break. If all they want is territory, I’m sure King Obama has the authority to give them a nice plot of land with coats and igloos in Antarctica. It’s not about needing a place to call home, if Palestinians wanted a home and were eager enough to follow historical boundaries, they would be asking the U.N. to respect the boundaries of the Roman Empire.
It’s about Israel NOT having the land. Places like Sderot, deep inside Israeli territory, are already under attack. No one with both hemispheres of their brain and firing inter-neurons thinks that shortening the range of Palestinian rockets is going to make any Israelis safer.
Netanyahu knows that if you give a Palestinian an East Jerusalem, he’s going to want a West Jerusalem. During the Clinton Administration they were offered a Palestinian State with part of Jerusalem as its capital, along with control of 97% of the West Bank–everything their own negotiators had said was requisite for peace. Israeli then-Prime Minister Ehud Barak agreed to the deal, but Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat turned it down flat. The current Palestinian leader is Mahmoud Abbas, who has stated that a “future state” of Palestine would be used to continue the fight against Israel, and who has proven this by allying with the self-proclaimed terrorist group Hamas, Israel’s sworn enemy. If Hamas had an army in the Xbox game of Halo, they would be the waddling grunts haphazardly shooting rocket launchers. They just don’t care. They use ambulances to blow up schools. Enough said.
Jewish support for King Obama is often touted by the U.S. media’s coverage of Jewish U.S. citizens. But the Israeli’s themselves have no question that King Obama opposes Israel. Way back in August 2009, The Jerusalem Post reported that 4% of Israelis believed King Obama to be pro-Israel, while over ten times that number felt King Obama was more pro-Palestine. This is compared to 88% of Jewish Israelis who believed President Bush to be pro-Israel. Today, you might have to stretch out the decimal places to calculate King Obama’s approval rating in Israel.
While in office, King Obama has either celebrated or written formal salutations for every single Muslim holiday. The uniquely Christian holiday of Easter has either been celebrated “for all faiths,” despite the fact that no other religion would even WANT to celebrate Easter, or completely ignored, as it was this year. As for Jewish holidays, well, Justin Bieber cares more about them than the leader of the free world.
If you were to argue that King Obama is streamlining U.S. foreign policy by cutting our costs and responsibility in the region, you would be forgetting that he recently forgave $1 billion of Egypt’s debt and loaned them another $1 billion. More billions are going to Tunisia and Pakistan. Meanwhile the U.S. has reached its federal debt limit again.
Our only true and democratic ally in the region is surrounded by a sea of feudal oil states and brutal dictatorships. We remember Psalm 121:1-8,
“I lift up my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip – he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you – the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm – he will watch over you life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
(Psalm 121:1-8)
Israel’s “Road Map to Peace” does not come from bureaucrats in any country, but will occur when Father God takes vengeance on the enemies of Israel.
I pray we end King Obama’s reign before the United States becomes one of them.
Shalom,
