For Immediate Release:
Pastor Cary responds to Editorial published by Sioux City Journal and written by Rev. Barry Lynn of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State:
FYI: When our congregation was eviscerated in the local news during Karen Mackey’s media circus (used to distract the public from the true nature of complaints that were filed against her by her own employees, who were not members of my church), I sent a response from our pastoral staff to defend the unfair allegations made by citizens with the assistance of our local media. The Journal REFUSED to publish my response and give me equal time, balance and a fair chance to defend our church – proving their unprofessional pro-gay anti-Cornerstone bias.
This morning, they published a full-blown article, written by Bary Lynn of Americans United… in which he patronizes and criticizes our faith, family and freedom at Cornerstone. I submitted the following response to the Journal Editors, Mitch Pugh and Barbara Walker:
Mitch/Barbara et. al.
I would like equal-time. I hope you will not suppress my right to defend myself… again, as your paper did when I offered a response to the HRC circus to Lyn Z, and it was never printed.
My response to Americans United is below:
Activist judges like Marsha Ternus, Michael Streit and David Baker are little more than a bellwether of a greater malevolence to come. I can not sit back and allow liberal judges to inappropriately misuse their power as a tool for unnatural social re-engineering. The path Iowa’s courts have placed us upon will inevitably lead to the criminalization of teaching the Bible in America, as has been done throughout much of Europe, and more recently, Canada…where reading certain texts of scripture are considered a “hate crime.” (A freedom crushing horror Barry Lyn would no doubt celebrate).
Their usurpation of authority, hubris, as well as their attempt to create an oligarchical tyranny, requires the most immediate and severe response allowed by civil and Divine laws. My public summons to state-wide pastors (for which cause Marsha Ternus and Americans United complains), now joined by a number of churches nearing the 200 mark, emulates those principles of righteous civil disobedience – promoted by the Holy Scriptures – and once used as the very rationale for our own Declaration of Independence. (See the theological work of John Locke, Two Treatises on Government, from whence the Declaration was virtually plagiarized.)”
My response to the propagandists of secular humanism are best summarized by the prophetic (and heretofore unheeded) warning given by my favorite “radical lesbian and atheist feminist” (her own words), who also happens to be a social science professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Dr. Camille Paglia.
Here’s what she had to say about the disrespectful behavior of her own gay community as it relates to people of sacred faith and tradition:
“[Gay activism], encouraged by the scientific illiteracy of academic postmodernism, wants to deny that there is a heterosexual norm. This is madness!…[eventually] the INSULTING DISRESPECT shown by gay activists to religion…[will] produce a BACKLASH… History shows that massive spiritual revivals are a fundamental, recurrent element in culture.” 1 [Emphasis added.]
I believe Dr. Paglia accurately described what you now see unfolding before your eyes in Iowa. Gay activism, at home and abroad, continually demonstrates a zero tolerance policy with regard to religious liberties. Indeed – the radical gay agenda, supported by leftwing ATTORNEYS like Barry Lyn, who masquerade as “reverend” while defying biblical standards (as previously demonstrated above – an agenda that is considered disagreeable by many gays) is INCOMPATIBLE with religious freedom around the world.
Ternus, Baker and Streit should re-read the preamable of the Iowa Constitution (which see), and brush-up on the foundation of American constitutional law…NATURE AND NATURE’S GOD…GRANTOR of unalienable rights.”
“We, the people of the State of Iowa, grateful to the Supreme Being for the blessings hitherto enjoyed, and feeling our dependence on Him for a continuation of those blessings, do ordain and establish a free and independent government, by the name of the State of Iowa…” These are the words of the Preamble of Iowa’s State Constitution, drafted in 1857!” Since it is true, that in 1857 sodomy was considered a criminal offense across much of our nation, we are beyond certain that the Iowa Constitution did not, nor could it now produce the canard of gay “marriage” without the assistance of judicial activism. If the gay community wishes to introduce such a radical concept, let them do it in a way that supports the rule of law…through the legislature.
